A visit to the Wild Atlantic Way
On a quick visit to the Atlantic coast recently I managed to explore this section of cliffs, an area that I had wanted to visit for some time now. While conditions might have been damp and cloudy with rain rolling in later in the hike, I felt it suited the location.
There are a few compositional issues I tried to resolve while there but with almost no movement available from my precarious perch I had to live with some of the compromises. Isolating the main crag was the biggest one but could not get the angle to do so. Showing the base of the stack I felt was also important to help with scale but this again was difficult. You can see some of my decision process in the images shared here, and being limited to a fixed focal length wide angle lense was also a fun restraint.
Further exploration of the area revealed some nice views down the coast, and with the sea mist building in, there was a real feel of the Faro Islands from the place with the lush greens dark cliffs.
In a period where traveling has been so restricted it felt good to find and explore some new locations and work out some compositions. Some dawn light could be spectacular in this area so a return trip is on the cards at some stage.
