This is not my usual type of post but I wanted to highlight the fact that I finally got around to putting up a gallery of images here including both architecture and street photography. These two areas of photography I enjoy a lot but don’t get a chance to practice much of either.
A lot of the street photography images were taken during a walk around with the Cork street photography group during one of their meetups. Haven’t been able to go since but would like to in the future. I find street photography quite difficult and very different to the usual type of images I take. My intention is to try a lot more of it but I really need to be in one of the bigger towns or cities to get better opportunities. As you can see from the images I was still trying to use longer exposures in some cases to capture some movement, but I think I over used it, leaving the subject sometimes not sharp enough.
The Architecture images are something that do lend themselves to B&W to emphasize the form and structure and I enjoy making them, (don’t have to worry about sea spray and tides and I can leave the wellies at home).
The intention is to do a lot more of this in Cork city in particular and also want to make some images in Waterford city following the great exhibition of Waterford street art recently during the Waterford Walls festival.
One of my favourite images is one I took of the Davonshire Bridge in Dungarvan (below). It might not look like it but a lot of work went into this to get what I was looking for, needed to be a very high tide in evening light with some form of clouds in the sky, I think in all I was there 6 times in different conditions to get what I was looking for. I haven’t seen it taken from this angle before so that's another thing that appeals to me.
This is just a selection of the images from the new Architecture / Street Gallery , check it out for some more. Back to the usual type of post next week.
Thanks for reading
