Another “revisited” post, this time from a location I began photographing in 2015, link here to the previous post. After many visits and hours spent here, as stunning as it is, I feel there are only a few compositions that work well in my opinion. Ironically the very first image I took here is still my favourite , which is very unusual for me as i tend to refine the compositions over time. This is replicated above but left in colour as I felt the subtle light worked well, and also from a slightly higher elevation.
The very obvious subject in this cove is the huge sea stack, and the biggest challenge I find is to somehow convey the scale of it. I am definitely not one for putting the “Lone adventurer” staring off into the distance in the frame, which would help . I have tried different elevations to shoot it from , thinking that looking slightly upwards would help, but I’m not so sure , see the image below for example.
It definitely a dawn rather than a sunset location as the light catches the stack beautifully.
