Ballyvooney cove is located near Stradbally on the Copper coast in Waterford. For this project most of the occasion I visited there was fairly harsh light but quiet directional as it was well into the winter months, the best time to photograph the Copper Coast in my opinion. I decided just to go with this and in the first few images I have just embraced the conditions and left the shadows fall where they did (often to near black).
The other unique feature of this area is some of the texturers and colours of the rocks in the area. This is due to the unique geology of the area and something I will revisit over time but here a few examples.
The broader view is also quiet appealing and best shot at sunset. This location is located just 3 minutes from where we are hosting a photography workshop and may well feature during this weekend, please see previous blog post for all the details, link here
Its worth noting that there is a ship wreck on this beach barely visible at very low tide. I don’t feel there’s anything particularly interesting photographically but it is nice to have a look at and read the history of it.
This will probably be my last post before Christmas this year so Happy Christmas to all my readers and thank you for your continued support.
