A very brief outing this weekend allowed me to visit one of the places on the ever increasing locations to visit list. This area is along the shore of Lough Derg just outside Killaloe on the Clare side in an area called Twomilegate. The area is easily accessible and the scene is somewhat of a cliché but it is still nice to capture it.
These were shot mid day with no interesting light and in very windy conditions that were far from ideal. There are a number of piers here to choose from and I decided on one in particular and set about trying to capture something. In cases where I have included the framing branches overhead I have had to blend 2 images together as there was too much movement in the branches in the wind. I don’t typically blend images together but to get these the way I wanted this was the only option with both the framing branches sharp and the long exposure to eliminate the detail in the rough water to bring emphisis to the textures in the pier. Would love to get here pre-dawn to capture some early morning mist and light
As we’re into the autumn months its off to the woods for me for a few weeks and see what I can capture, hopefully I’ll have a few images to share at the other end of it.
