Ballinagoul (Baile na nGall) is a quaint and beautiful fishing village on the Ring Peninsula in Waterford. As well as being a prime crab fishing site for 3 small kids (the best free kids entertainment in Waterford by far) it’s a interesting place to photograph. As well as some old fishing boats moored here with great character and history to them the backdrop of the Knockmealdown mountains can make a nice image.
During the summer the sun sets almost directly behind the pier which makes it a good place to enjoy sunset. During the winter months the evening light will illuminate the pier nicely. If its long exposure photography is something you are interested in you will need the tide to be about 2 -3 hours from full tide to allow the boat s to ground so they won’t be moving during the exposure.
