With a bit of exploring and perseverance, there are still some hidden gems to be found around Ireland, known only by locals. They are well worth the effort and I feel much more rewarding than the locations we see over and over again. For me the most enjoyable aspect is trying to come up with compositions that best portray particular locations and not being influenced by images you may have seen before.
As beautiful a location that this is, and even though it was man made, (it is a disused quarry), we unfortunately continue to destroy areas like this for future generations. I very nearly missed this particular scene being standing only yards from it and not spotting what lies beneath.
Conditions changed very quickly with a fog rolling in after sunset. These would have been perfect conditions if they had arrived earlier. This is another location I will have to visit again as I feel I got drawn to the wider views rather than seeking out the more intimate and simple scenes that abound there.
