I am just back from our family holiday in Kerry and as with previous years I usually try and get out once with the camera at some point, when there isn’t much impact on the others. In this case I decided to scout out Ballydavid head (Baile na nGall) on the Dingle Peninsula. It’s a place I have a family connection with my Grandfather coming from there originally before moving to Annascaul.
Something I have done recently and again here is when I am going to a place where somebody else’s work has inspired me to visit I like to give them Credit and in this case it was a stunning image by John Crowley from a few years back.
As you can see from the photography conditions were very misty and I really wanted to try and make more of An Tiaracht island in the background. Ideally I’d have had more directional light which never materialised but definitely enough there for a return visit. On the night in question initially the 3 Sister’s weren't even visible but after waiting around they eventually revealed themselves.
I feel its more of a sunset location and be aware the hike up to this point while not technical is a little strenuous in places with the gradient.
